On April 25, 2025, the Department of Chemistry at the University of Fribourg hosted the third edition of the BeNeFri Student Spring Symposium, organized by the young Swiss Chemical Society (ySCS). This event brought together students, postdocs, and young principal investigators from across Switzerland to foster scientific exchange and collaboration.

INTEGRATE was represented at the symposium by Carolina Pierucci from the Adolphe Merkle Institute, a key partner of the project. Carolina delivered an oral presentation titled:“Toward the development of an artificial electric organ: Nafion membranes for power generation from physiologic ion gradients.”

The symposium featured keynote talks by Prof. Jessica Clough (Adolphe Merkle Institute) on optical mapping of mechanical forces in polymeric materials and Prof. Stefan Salentinig (University of Fribourg) on supramolecular design for advanced food and healthcare materials.

The event provided a vibrant platform for young researchers to present their work, exchange ideas, and build networks in a welcoming atmosphere supported by NCCR Bioinspired, Chemistry Europe, the University of Fribourg, the Swiss National Science Foundation (SNF), and the Swiss Chemical Society (SCS).
